## Admission requirements

- Prior degree: Bachelor's of at least six semesters in engineering or the natural sciences, from a German or foreign university
- Minimum grade: not confirmed
- Prerequisite credits: Physics, mathematics, chemistry and biology core equivalents
- Also required: Eignungsverfahren (aptitude assessment) applies. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission - applicants are ranked. Check TUMonline for current procedure details. Under the revised procedure, stage 1 is a 120-minute written examination of 35 to 50 single-answer multiple-choice questions plus free-response questions, which can be taken online (proctored, with a fee of roughly US$25) or on site. The application window opens 15 April 2026. uni-assist VPD (Vorprüfungsdokumentation) required for applicants with a non-German bachelor's degree; APS certificate required for applicants from China, India and Vietnam.

## Application deadlines

- All applicants, winter semester: 2026-05-31 (PASSED as of the last site build; the window usually repeats next cycle). Application window 15 April - 31 May for WS 2026/27 via TUMonline. TUM strongly encourages non-EU applicants to apply by 15 March so there is time for visa processing; missing documents such as the uni-assist VPD can follow until the final deadline.
- All applicants, summer semester: 2026-11-30. Application window 1 September - 30 November for SS 2027 via TUMonline.
