Interdisciplinary German-taught master offered jointly by KIT’s Departments of Mathematics and of Economics and Management, combining stochastics and optimization with economics and their practical interpretation, drawing on the MathSEE centre. Aimed at insurance, finance and operations-research careers or a doctorate. Based at KIT Campus South in central Karlsruhe.

Non-EU/EEA students pay tuition of €1,500/semester IN ADDITION to the semester contribution of €201.50/semester (total €1,701.50/semester for non-EU students). EU/EEA students pay only the semester contribution. The contribution breaks down as €80.00 administrative charge + €109.50 Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe (including student liability insurance) + €12.00 Students Union. The semester ticket is NOT included — only about €17.50 of the Studierendenwerk charge funds a limited off-peak KVV base ticket (weekdays 18:00–06:00, all day at weekends and on public holidays); budget separately for a KVV Studikarte or Deutschlandticket. ## Admission requirements

- Prior degree: Bachelor in a mathematical or economics degree, or an essentially equivalent qualification
- Minimum grade: No limited capacity — the master is open to all applicants and there is no selection process
- Prerequisite credits: Mathematics at least 20 CP; Stochastics at least 8 CP; Business administration or economics at least 15 CP
- Also required: No GRE. Deadline note: the wiwi.kit.edu page lists only 30 September and 31 March and omits the non-EU dates; the central sle.kit.edu page is authoritative for the earlier 15 July / 15 January non-EU deadlines. EU and non-EU applicants alike apply directly through the KIT Online-Portal of the International Students Office; KIT performs its own foreign-degree equivalence check. No uni-assist, no VPD, no application fee. APS certificate required for applicants from China, Vietnam and India.

## Application deadlines

- Non-EU applicants, winter semester: 2026-07-15 (PASSED as of the last site build; the window usually repeats next cycle). Non-EU / foreign-degree applicants apply earlier than German and EU applicants.
- EU / German-degree applicants, winter semester: 2026-09-30. German and EU/EEA applicants. A 30 September deadline for an October start is only practical if you are already in Germany or the EU.
- Non-EU applicants, summer semester: 2027-01-15. Non-EU / foreign-degree applicants.
- EU / German-degree applicants, summer semester: 2027-03-31. German and EU/EEA applicants.
