# Chemical and Process Engineering (Chemieingenieurwesen und Verfahrenstechnik) (MSc) at KIT

Research-intensive process-engineering master in one of the world’s most renowned chemical and process engineering departments (27 professorships per KIT’s English faculty page), set within KIT’s dual mandate as a research university and a national research centre. Students choose two of roughly fifteen specialisation subjects from over one hundred modules, with pilot-plant and process-control training. German-taught. Based at KIT Campus South in central Karlsruhe, with process-engineering research also at Campus North, KIT’s Helmholtz research campus outside the city centre.

## Admission requirements

- Prior degree: Bachelor or equivalent in Chemical Engineering or a substantially similar subject, at least 180 ECTS over at least three years
- Minimum grade: No minimum grade is required where the subject fit is automatic (for example a KIT CIW or BIW bachelor)
- Prerequisite credits: Mathematics and programming at least 20 CP; Natural-science fundamentals at least 15 CP; Engineering fundamentals at least 24 CP including thermodynamics
- Also required: EU and non-EU applicants alike apply directly through the KIT Online-Portal of the International Students Office; KIT performs its own foreign-degree equivalence check. No uni-assist, no VPD, no application fee. APS certificate required for applicants from China, Vietnam and India.

## Application deadlines

- Non-EU applicants, winter semester: 2026-07-15 (PASSED as of the last site build; the window usually repeats next cycle). Non-EU / foreign-degree applicants apply earlier than German and EU applicants.
- EU / German-degree applicants, winter semester: 2026-09-30. German and EU/EEA applicants. A 30 September deadline for an October start is only practical if you are already in Germany or the EU.
- Non-EU applicants, summer semester: 2027-01-15. Non-EU / foreign-degree applicants.
- EU / German-degree applicants, summer semester: 2027-03-31. German and EU/EEA applicants.
